Photography Abe Schrager Abe has shot over a dozen low budget independent feature films and operated camera for some of the industries heaviest hitters including Roger Deakins on Dead Man Walking, directed by Tim Robbins, Brian West on Jacknife directed by David Jones and the 1994 Les Mayfield version of Miracle On 34th Street. He became interested in photography at the tender age of seven when his uncle, a successful painter and photographer, gave him his first camera. In high school he shot for his school's daily newspaper, literary magazine and yearbook. He went on to receive a degree in mechanical engineering, before deciding to return to his early passion. As a photographer his highly stylized photographs encompassed the worlds of advertising, fashion, architecture and journalism. Among his many memorable early assignments; he documented the Al Capone courtroom for The Federal Archives, toured backstage with The Beatles for the Chicago Daily News and captured Bobby Hull's world record 54th goal for Sports Illustrated. Abe has discovered a niche in the motion picture industry combining his photographic ability and mechanical prowess into an innovative style. His resourcefulness and knowledge are sought after whenever specialized dolly, crane movement, or complicated camera rigging is required. He has over a decade of experience as a cameraman on projects ranging from features to commercials, industrials, documentaries, short films, music videos and TV productions. His talents and evocative eye have impressed a gamut of celebrities including astronaut Neil Armstrong, Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and The Rolling Stones. |
